last december i had an allergic reaction to something, and i got a rash on my wrist which was slightly red, with white dry skin. i was itching a great deal a while after, my eyes were swollen at one point but went up and down for a few days. it wasn’t till march that i found otu that i had HSV1. in between that time i’ve had head aches at time and stuff. i let my doctors know that i had a preexisting case of eczema yet they never brought up the question “do you have herpes” (this was before testing postitive for hsv1) and after i found out, i’ve let doctors know i’ve got hsv1 and an existing case of eczema yet no one has ever said anything. please help. i’m really worried about this.

My husband never had symptoms of HSV 1 and 2 , which I never know… neither do I , I was tested for HIV and STD in St. Lukes Hospital accredited by USCIS when I got my VISA before I came in the US and everything is negative. I am pregnant right now and my blood test went positive for HSV1 ( 5.00 IgG and equivocal for HSV2 .92 IgG ( first test ). But no result for IGM. Then my obgyn let me have the second test after less than a month. The test result went HSV1 positive ( 4.09 IgG ) and HSV2 positive (1.50 IgG ). My HIV test is negative too.

Now I am confused of everything, that makes me doubt about the test accuracy and how they do it. If I am positive for HSV 2 why the first test show I am not. I am really worried and confused now. I don’t want my marriage affected by this situation I never thought I will have.

Is there possibility that I got it from my husband? that maybe positive too for HSV2., which I don’t know.

Meningitis caused by Herpes? Anyone have any experience with this?

Ok, so a few months back I ended up in the hospital with viral meningitis. After they ran some tests, the dr found out that I had herpes (HSV2) which she said was the cause of the meningitis.
At first I was furious with my husband because of course I had never been diagnosed with this before and I knew that I hadn’t been with anyone for the 6 years we had been together. Well he went and got tested and came back negative, so he obviously did not give it to me.
So that meant that I have had herpes for the entire 6 years my hubby and I have been together and having unprotected sex. Neither of us have ever noticed any type of outbreak anywhere.
From doing extensive research online, the few sites that even mentioned a connection between herpes and meningitis all said that meningitis is usually a symptom of an initial outbreak! How can this be?!
My primary care dr has really no clue about herpes and my insurance has no infectious disease dr anywhere within hours of me. The infectious disease dr that they assigned to me while in the hospital basically told me I don’t need to ask so many questions because it’s not that big of a deal! Her nurse apologized but simply said that is just how she is.
The CDC has a ‘herpes hotline’ but they are only vaguely aware of the connection between herpes and meningitis.

I have so many unanswered questions concerning this:

1. How have I had this for 6 years of unprotected sex with my husband and he doesn’t have it??

2. From what I’ve read, hsv2 is usually genital, but can also be oral. Also, an outbreak will reoccur in the same place everytime. So since I’ve never had any type of outbreak other than the meningitis, does this mean that I will never have any type of genital outbreak, for instance?

*Any other info from someone with experience on this subject is greatly appreciated! This was just all so much to take in. Especially since I have been in a long time monogomaus relationship and we were both tested before being sexual with each other (which, I just recently found out that they don’t test for herpes unless you specifically ask for it!)
