Relationship with Genital Herpes carrier?

Hi all, my girlfriend who I have been with for a short period of time has just told me she has genital herpes. She also told me she is on daily medication. We have had sex on many occasions but every time we have, we’ve used a condom. Recently I went to the doctor for a blood test and more info and at the moment have stopped having sex until I get my head around this. I have read many articles on here, Wikipedia and some scientific journal to get a greater knowledge.

My main question is/ has anyone here in/ been a relationship with a partner with genital herpes and remained clean and if so how long has it been going? On the contrary has anyone or is anyone in a relationship and contracted HSV2 whilst knowing of the risk? If so was it contracted whilst using all the preventions (stated below)?

In addition are there anymore precautions that could be taken rather than just, the use of a condom, medication for the infected and avoiding sexual intercourse via the time of a breakout?

P.s I feel as if I am in a really tough situation here as I cannot ask any of my family or close friends in respect for her privacy, I really don’t know what my next step is I really like her allot but ultimately I don’t want to commit to a relationship if within a couple of years we do break up and I then need to put up with the same infection for the rest of my life.

Kissed a girl on Thursday night, worried that I might have contracted something?

The next day, (could be my imagination) I thought I felt a little irritation in my urethra…which has persisted until today (Saturday)…Sometimes I don’t feel it, but sometimes I do. Also, when taking a drink of a soda today, my upper lip burned a little right in the middle. I thought it might have been a cracked lip, but when I looked real close in the mirror, I don’t see any cracks or injuries. Of course, I am panicking for sure now, thinking that I might have gotten something in my urethra, as well as now maybe the HSV2 (cold sores) which I’ve never had before. My questions are: Could a cold sore or HSV2 show up this soon on your lip? And could something else show up less than 8 hrs later? My encounter was Thursday night at midnight, and I noticed my urethra the next morning, and noticed my lip this morning (Saturday) ..less than 48 hours.

Herpes carriers: Were you surprised when you got it?

I had a girlfriend with herpes for 4 years. She occasionally got “outbreaks,” but we avoided sex during those times, and I never acquired it from her.

I did later acquire asymptomatic herpes from someone else (i.e. I have never had an outbreak, but I now test positive for HSV2). I had not noticed any sores on her. When I asked her about it, she dodged the question and we never spoke again.

Now I am concerned that I might be able to transmit it to someone else even when I have never shown any symptoms. My doctor said, “Basically, that never happens.” But I had to wonder then, how do so many people get it? Are people knowingly have sex while they or their partner is having an outbreak?

I was diagnosed with pneumonia and a low WBC Count 10+?

How can I forgive myself for a mistake that I didn’t know can happen?

Before this happened to me, I didn’t see anything wrong with receiving oral sex. I didn’t know you can get std’s from that.

I had been in a monogamous relationship for 3 years, have had pap smears, HIV, GC, chlmaydia, HPV and herpes testing every year just to be sure and everything was always negative. I recently found out that my “monogamous” partner has been sleeping with many women and having unprotected sex. So I just recently (December) went to the ob-gyn and again had all of these tests performed. I found out this week that I have high risk HPV and my pap smear showed CIN II she indicated that I may have cervical cancer and need further testing which has been scheduled. I was also informed that my HSV2 also came back positive. Needless to say I am devestated with the results of thes tests especially that I have been 100% monagamous to a man for 3 years that I thought I would marry and he has given me something that I will live the rest of my life with. Previous to this relationship I was married for 20 years and totally single for 4years. I am devestated and depressed and there is really noone around me that I can talk to about this and I have been looking for online support groups where you can remain anonomys. I am embarrased and humiliated that this has happened to me and right at the moment I really do not know how to deal with it. Sorry if this was too much information or not the proper information to post but I have never been part of an online group before.

Do I have herpes or something else?

OK so here are the details. About two weeks ago I received oral sex from a girl I am going out with which I know she is clean. About a week ago I got a cold sore on the inside the bottom lip of my mouth because I got a bad cold. but I haven’t kissed the girl I am seeing because it can be contagious. Anyway I trimmed my area the middle of this past week and noticed two small bumps that were slightly raised and a little lite in color at the base of my penis. They didn’t really hurt or burn no puss or anything like that they seem to be a little tender. My question is could I have given myself hsv2 by touch my cold sore then my genitals by going to the bathroom? Or could this be a two small pimples or something else?
